We are propelled by the notion that a teen ‘turning out Ok’ should be the norm not exception.
We are a team of young professionals who believe in the greatness of every teenager, are passionate about them and dare use unconventional methods to reach out to them through mentorship. Part of this is to partner with schools, churches and families who have invested heavily in them.
Meet Our Founder Sam Mbeki
The story of Genfluence begins with our founder when he missed two school terms and stared at being a school dropout. Despite proceeding to the next class, the fears, uncertainty and doubts still followed him into high school. Deep down, just like many other teens, he wanted to succeed, but didn’t know how.
In high school, he met a teacher who gave more than just the curriculum. Regular hangouts with the teacher calmed the fears and the doubts. He turned out just Ok. In fact, we think more than just Ok. He went on to became an airline captain with the national carrier, a certified life coach and an astute finance degree graduate. Ooh, did we say he dropped out of an engineering course to pursue piloting? Seemed he wanted to be a dropout anyway…(on a light note).
Grateful over the impact of mentorship in his life, he set out to give back. Over a period of 14 years, he impacted over 2500 teens in schools, churches and at a personal level.
But there was a problem
Over the years he noticed that though the teens longed for mentorship; schools lacked a partner who would provide a variety of solutions to their different needs, churches had a need for tools to be practical with their teens, and families intending to inspire, struggled with connecting to the teen. There was no structured content that facilitated all round mentorship and whatever help they got didn’t stay long enough to complete the mentorship process.
How Genfluence came to be
In 2021 Sam with a team set out on a journey to impact the teen through mentorship as well as partner with schools, churches and families in achieve their needs as far as the teens are concerned. Our desire is to use the experience we have acquired to be the go-to team in all matters teen mentorship and to be by your side all the way until you achieve your expectations.
